moving ahead of setbacks
Nothing is more discouraging while you're trying to lose weight than running into a setback. You're making progress, and out of nowhere you slip up and eat a few fattening meals, get out of your routine, or forget to take alli⢠capsules. As a result, you may even gain back a little weight. So is there a guaranteed way to get around setbacks? No. But there is an effective way to get through them and even learn from them to become stronger, healthier, and more committed.
This week you'll learn about setbacks; how to accept them, how to recover from them, and how to learn from them for future success.
- Accept setbacks
- Discover methods of recovery
- Create delicious recipes to help you avoid setbacks in the future
This Step is crucial in helping you to understand that setbacks do not equal failure, but rather provide a reason to press on with even more determination to succeed.
Ways to recover from a setback
Whether you've experienced a setback or not, it's good to have some options at hand to help you get back on track quickly. When a setback occurs, you have to recognize that it's just a bump in the road. It won't derail you. You have to identify what happened, get back on track, and learn from your mistake. Here are some actions you can try in case of a setback:
- Record what happened. Document what you ate and write about the slip-up in my journal. Was it an old eating trigger? A new one? Were you conscious of what you were doing? Did you realize you made the mistake after the fact?
- Focus on returning to your plan. Don't try to compensate by restricting your calories or starving. That will do more harm than good.
- Learn from your setbacks. Awareness is the key to catching the extra calories you eat and drink each day before they show up on the scale. Are you more vulnerable when you are tired? Was an eating trigger involved?
Hope you find this to be of some help! Love and Hugs Lisa
